Hi there – I’m Steve and welcome to my musical sphere!  Within the site you can find out about me, my gear, my past, my present and my future!

So a little bit about me…

I’ve played bass and guitar since 1992 and have never been bored since taking it on. In my professional career since 1999, I have played all over the UK, Europe and Africa. I have toured and performed over 3000 gigs including work in the West End of London, national television and radio and a diverse morasse of gigs for many bands where I have played in front of absolutely no people (other than the band) to as many as 90,000 people at Wembley Stadium.  I have worked with numerous chart-topping artists and persons within the industry.

As a performer and session musician I ended up working on bass a lot by accident I suppose - and this became my focus on live situations.  I carried on learning guitar for studio work and composition, and the occasional dep gig.
My experience covers live performance, studio sessions, theatre pit work and I am happy to play in any style, with notation/charts or without.
Aside from this I also write and record/engineer a lot of my own diverse music.
Lately I have chosen to split my time between University Lecturing and bass tuition but I still gig every week in a variety of ensembles from acoustics duo’s, power trio’s, swing quartets, 9 piece funk bands and anything else that comes in. Every year finds me new challenges and hopefully these improve my playing gradually.
I am happy to play 4-string, 5 string, 6 string fretted/fretless bass, electric upright even synth bass.
