Steve Rickwood Music
Teaching and lecturing
Over recent years, I have chosen to split my time between teaching and gigging. I currently work as a sessional lecturer for Canterbury Christchurch University across two Degree courses, covering Performance, Music Theory, Music Production and Bass tuition. I also run ensembles including Progressive Rock, 80s and Groove.
I teach guitar and bass at Chatham House in Ramsgate, Canterbury Academy Langton Girls School in Canterbury, St Lawrence College in Ramgate, Canterbury Christchurch University, Community College, and Duke of York's Military school in Dover.
I have also been a tutor at St Thomas in Rochester, Spires Academy in Canterbury, Community college Whitstable, King Ethlebert's in Birchington, Eastcourt Specialist Dyslexia School in Ramsgate and YMS in Canterbury.
For most of my musical life I have written and performed on guitar, bass and keyboards, with some flirtations with vocals(!).
As a performer, the majority of gigs has been done on bass, and some on guitar. As a writer the majority of my work is written on guitar or keyboards.
For students, they will gain an insight to techniques and styles, help with songwriting (lyrics also), from an experienced tutor but also a performer who has played in bands for several decades, and continues to do so, every week of the year.
Software I teach includes Cubase, Logic and Sibelius.
I still teach privately, and lessons can be done online also - so do get in touch!
