Steve Rickwood Music
Professional info
I've gigged in bands constantly since 1992, performing over 3000 pro level gigs/recordings/sessions. I have been involved in Nationwide tours, West End Theatre, Wedding/Corporate Bands, Original ensembles, pub bands - pretty much everything. Below are just a few that stand out for one reason or another... I still gig in a mulitude of bands - keep watching for several new ones happening soon!
Rtex - my first band
In 1992 I joined my first band who became known as R-tex. Covering many rock bands of the day including Living Colour, Primus, Soundgarden, Mr Big and many more, we also wrote our own music and for the next two years gigged at every opportunity with a goal of blowing every band off the stage!! Every few years the ugly topic of a re-union rears it's ugly head but for the greater good, other than our parents, queues are not forming.
Raiders of the Lost Groove
1994-present (avec hiatuses)
Raiders of the Lost Groove are a prog/acid-jazz/funk/rock cocktail that have written together since the demise of my first band. As friends and long-time garage jammers, we developed an eclectic style, and no member can be replaced. Over the last four years a concept album has been in the works and is awaiting recording - hectic lifestyles have held this back so watch this space...
The Feelgood Factor
1995-2003
My first pro level reading gig. I met a wonderful bunch of players in this band, whos greater experience helped me in so many ways. I still gig with a variety of them to this day. It was a scary band in terms of quality and pace. They should have sacked me.
The Official Tribute to the Blues Brothers
1999-2006
After surviving an audition, I got my first pro job as a bassist. We used to gig 8 shows a week, often for 9 months straight. I learned a lot about performance, stagecraft and was lucky to play with some of the most respectable and talented players in the country. I still dep on occasions for a newer version but turned down regular tours in 2006 in order to pursue the academic side of me.
